This tall tower with spacious, modern and business-like rooms couldn’t be better situated. Service is slick and there are impressive river views from the upper floor rooms, and the handkerchief-sized rooftop pool and bar.
Location
Whether you’re here for business or pleasure Ho Chi Minh City hotel locations don’t get much better than this. The Liberty sits next to the river fewer than five minutes’ walk from the Bitexco tower (HCMC’s commercial hub), the city’s main pedestrian thoroughfare and the principal tourist sights.
Style and Character
This is first and foremost a business hotel – with work-friendly rooms, crisply-dressed staff, extensive conference facilities and an expansive marble-faced lobby (with a bar-cafe and tables — for meetings over a drink or coffee). Sweeping views and the privileged location make it a good choice for other travellers.
Service and Facilities
Drilled staff are swift to respond to requests, smile on cue and dish out available upgrades but they lack genuine warmth. Facilities are modern, comfortable and fit-for-purpose, but décor and furnishings have that boardroom-designed, business look which would be clichéd were it not so anodyne: business areas and lounges are decorated in post-Millennial muted tones and furnished with chunky faux-moleskine chairs and sofas. Only the frangipani flowers sprinkled on beds and the well-equipped spa (taking-up an entire floor, and including women-only areas) tell you that you’re in Asia. Until you look out of the windows: it’s the river-and-skyline views that set the Liberty apart.

Rooms
Rooms are bright and functional — with large windows and fitted light-wood desks. There’s workplace, ceiling and bedside lighting on the comfortable queen-sizes, which come with soft, high-thread-count cotton bed linen. The best rooms are above the tenth floor on the river side.
These are shielded from traffic noise by their height and have sweeping views along the river through glass windows that almost stretch floor to ceiling. Glass-walled bathrooms (with toilets) are built for intimacy rather than privacy.
Food and Drink
Generous buffet breakfasts include cakes, tropical fruit, cereals and Asian stir-fries, dumplings and soups. There’s an egg station and barista-style coffee. The hotel dining room offers a comprehensive if unimaginative please-all menu of Asian and Western dishes, but with so many restaurants within 10 minutes’ walk there’s little reason to eat here beyond immediate convenience.
