This tall tower in an enviable location – on a bend in the Perfume river in the heart of Hue – is in a great spot for experiencing the local nightlife. The hotel also boasts fabulous views from its restaurant and rooftop bar. Facilities include a small pool and spa. Service is speedy and genuinely friendly.
Location
The location could not be more convenient: the historic Forbidden Purple City is a five-minute cab ride away and the neighbouring streets brim with restaurants and bars – but note that the area can be noisy at night. The hotel’s rooms, restaurant and rooftop bar overlook the Perfume river.
Style and Character
It’s all about the river views – especially from the upper floors. Design plays second fiddle and feels a little corporate, albeit with a few boutiquey concessions. There’s a grand marble lobby busy with bellboys, uniformed staff behind a big concierge desk and a modest suite of meeting rooms armed with computers. But though the rooms are functional, there are scatter-cushions (with bright local designs) on the beds and fresh frangipani flowers laid out on the towels.
Service and Facilities
Staff are rapid, remember your name and show genuine interest. Facilities are excellent for a mid-sized hotel in this price range. There’s room service, a small pool, spa, kids’ club and a modest fitness centre with weights and a single running machine. The rooftop bar has views out over the river and the historic town and is a popular spot for sunset drink.

Rooms
All rooms come with work stations, television and complimentary slippers. There are three categories of room. Superior and Deluxe City View rooms are mostly on the lower floors and exposed to loud music – which pumps out of the various backpacker-friendly bars on the adjacent street. The Deluxe River View rooms are generously proportioned, flooded with natural light from expansive windows and overlook the Perfume River. Stay on or above the 10th floor for the best views and quietest nights. All rooms have coffee tables, large work areas and en suite bathrooms with big mirrors and powerful showers.
Food and Drink
The buffet breakfasts offer a comprehensive spread of Asian and European dishes – dumplings and stir-fries, cereals, pastries, bacon, sausages, bread and fruit. The rooftop bar is best in the late afternoon when the sun sinks red, glinting off the river. The restaurant has a mixed European and international menu, though with plenty of choices on the doorstep and in the adjacent streets, there’s no reason to eat-in.
