Hue’s night pedestrian zone around the Imperial Citadel was officially opened last Friday evening, April 22nd after a long postponement due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.
This is the third pedestrian zone in Hue after the one located on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street along the Perfume River and another backpacker precinct at the intersection of Vo Thi Sau, Chu Van An, and Pham Ngu Lao Streets. The opening of this night street zone is within a series of new tourism products to boost the nighttime travel experience and revive the local tourism industry.
The pedestrian street zone covers August 23, Le Huan, Dang Thai Than, and Doan Thi Diem Streets. It opens from 7 to 11 pm every Friday and Saturday with a highlight of the changing of the guard ceremony in front of the Imperial Citadel. Besides, a number of food stalls, folk games, art performances, and traditional rituals under the Nguyen Dynasty are displayed on site. Visitors will have chances to taste local cuisines, enjoy cultural shows, and watch the process of making handicrafts.
Previously, Hue City is pretty quiet at night with a few bars and nightclubs.
